Dorian and Jenna’s story began to unfold at Shepherd University’s music school, though their paths had subtly crossed before. At Shepherd, their initial impressions of each other were quite different from what they are today. Early on, in Theory 101, about a year before they started spending a lot of time together, Jenna thought Dorian was a bit snobby, and he, in turn, found her a little annoying. She playfully made comments to a friend some mornings about his outfits or the way he walked. But things shifted when Jenna started regularly coming over to Dorian and his groomsman Alexs dorm after band camp the following year. The moment Jenna realized her feelings for Dorian happened one afternoon while he was cooking for her. She mentioned being a bit difficult, and Dorian responded by telling her she was remarkably easy and fun to take care of. It was then that she knew. For Dorian, the realization came during an early Saturday morning. He was up preparing brunch to watch the F1 Singapore Grand Prix, a sport Jenna wasnt particularly fond of. Yet, she was there, up early with him, sipping mimosas and chatting as he cooked. When Dorian expressed concern about her having to get up so early for his interest, Jenna simply said she liked that she could participate in something he loved. In that selfless gesture, Dorian saw her caring heart, and he realized he loved her. Their first official date was, fittingly, sushi. Years later, they found themselves on another sushi date in Frederick, exploring the city to see if it felt like home – and it did. Their adventures blossomed with a memorable Christmas trip to Boston. As broke college kids, they scraped together points and referral codes by exhausting their contact lists, not even sure it would really work, to stay at the historic Omni Parker House, right in the vibrant downtown area near the Freedom Trail. It was a truly special trip. Jenna has been by Dorians side through many milestones, from the acquisition of his Audi TT (jokingly referred to as the worst financial mistake of the 21st century) to driving him around when it inevitably needed repairs. He introduced her to the charm of New England, a region theyve both grown to love and dream of living in someday. Their daily life is a testament to their beautiful connection. Jenna patiently listens to Dorians dreams for the future, and he, in turn, is a supportive ear for her experiences teaching band and working. Shes introduced him to TV series and movies he now genuinely enjoys, and hes also managed to drag her to operas and symphonies, which shes come to appreciate. Their relationship is built on a foundation of mutual respect and understanding, characterized by an excellent give-and-take. They truly complement each other, filling in each others gaps and gently pushing one another to grow. This dynamic has helped them build a secure and loving partnership. Dorian and Jenna are excited to continue their journey, hand-in-hand, for all the years to come.

A close second was the summer New York trip, where the lancer almost died on us twice. With Jenna probably has to be when we bribed our high school Spanish teacher with food for the ability to work together on an exam."

Favorite memory: Jenna and I have experienced so much over the years, picking one single memory would be impossible, but our endless laughter together will always stand out. She always brings the most contagious, beautiful aura to the room. Having Jenna around never fails to brighten my mood, a true sister that I look always forward to being around. ❤️

Favorite memory: “My favorite with Jenna has to be an overall growth view. Being able to watch her grow into a full blown adult and continuing her music career has been incredible to see from afar. Then, having the opportunity to hire her and teach with her was a highlight for me. I consider us very lucky to have her on the team with the other staff members.

And Dorian, my favorite memory we have has got to be the after rehearsal meetings we’d have, something off the wall would get said, and we’d always find each other and give that face/stare until we’d just laugh. 

Another was the strategic planning we’d coordinate for shows, rehearsals, and football games on how to get the best out of the kids that day or the week. I definitely think we worked well together and I’m proud to call you a friend!”

Favorite memory: “I happened to move to Frederick around the same time as Dorian and Jenna (I did not, in fact, steal their apartment, contrary to what they might say). My first day working (from home, thankfully) after moving, I got a call out of nowhere from Jenna. She and Maple were locked out of their apartment, and the other key was with Dorian across town! At Jenna's request, I took my lunch break to pay Dorian a visit at work. After several conversations with confused AOPA employees who I imagine were becoming increasingly suspicious of me, Dorian came to my (and more importantly, Jenna's) rescue and met me at the door with the key, and we were able to restore Jenna and Maple's access to the apartment. I have come to appreciate Jenna's out of nowhere calls during my workday, usually with much lower stakes, as sometimes I need that short, silly conversation. Jenna, one of these days, I WILL agree to run errands with you!”
